“You can’t do a rock musical without great sound. And John Shryock is the finest DC has to offer. My show would have been impossible without him.”

- Shawn Northrip, Composer (Titus X, Lunch, and more), referring to John doing sound design for his show Titus X

“I will not work with any other sound guy.”

- Mason Booker, writer and director of C-47

“Working with John was a great experience. He’s efficient and structured, but he’s flexible enough to know when to roll with a better idea too. He’ll spend all day and night to make a deadline and I really appreciated that. I remember a few times where we had to clock in 10 hour + sessions in the sound studio for one of my animations. That sort of dedication is a rare thing, and I definitely look forward to working with John again.”

- Vincent Wong, Writer/Director/Animator, Clive’s Christmas

Recording Musicians and Bands

Please enjoy this 2:45 compilation of 10 groups I’ve recorded in my project studio.

I can work with you to produce your demo or audition recording.  I have recorded over 75 bands, musicians, and concerts over the years.

I have a project studio where I’ve recorded rock, rap, r&b, gospel, pop, classical, metal, jazz fusion, funk and more.

Music Editing for Dance and More

I have worked with a number of choreographers over the years to get their tracks ready for competitions and shows.

I’ve cut pieces for dance choreographers, ice-skating choreographers, magicians, an aerial silks artist, and even a juggler.

The edits will be seamless – whether it’s simply taking out a verse and chorus, fading out the ending, extending an instrumental part, or cutting a bunch of songs together.

We can add voiceovers and drop in hits and sound effects to really make the choreography pop.

Whatever you think of, we can make it happen!

Voiceovers

I record and edit voiceovers for plays, films, radio dramas, cartoons, animations, and commercial work.

If you are an actor in need of creating or updating your voiceover demo, we can work together to create a great product to send out to potential clients.

If you are looking for voiceover actors, I personally know a lot of great talent in the area.

Live Sound

I am comfortable setting up and running live sound for a variety of events.

I have worked live sound for concerts, musicals, plays, meetings, conferences, talent shows, open mics, and more.

My live sound experience includes:

- Audiences up to 900.
- Up to 11 wireless mics.
- Up to 16 microphones
- Very short load-in and load-out schedules.
- Stage monitors.
- External recording devices.

I also am close friends with some great live sound companies should you need rental equipment.
